At the beginning of July, PhD student Lacey Carpenter and I drove an American Museum of Natural History Ford F-150 (Big Red) from Ann Arbor to the valley of Oaxaca over the course of five days. Crossing the Mexican border before dawn and driving fourteen straight hours to a town north of Mexico City is not an experience I'll soon forget.
Since arriving, Lacey has introduced me to the many moles of Oaxaca and the joys of conducting archaeological research in the valley. We work with a group of townspeople from San Martin Tilcajete who are expert excavators as well as extraordinary artisans. Comments are closed.
