On Memorial Day weekend, Whitney McLaren and I were dropped off by a helicopter in the middle of Dinosaur Ridge in Central Alaska. We spent the weekend searching for previously discovered sites and found 10 previously unrecorded sites along the ridge top. Most of these were surface flake scatters that were identifiable by carefully inspecting gravels along the ridge line. A few of these sites had evidence for prehistoric and historic use, demonstrating that a good hunting site can be reused for centuries.
